In Bloordale Village, for instance, two couples utilized the Husmates platform to buy a detached house, converting it into three separate units, including a laneway suite. This approach not only makes homeownership more attainable but also promotes community living and efficient use of space.

The concept of "gentle density" is also reshaping suburban landscapes. Developments like the one at 367 Howland Avenue exemplify this trend, replacing single-family homes with multi-unit buildings that blend seamlessly into existing neighborhoods. These projects offer affordable rental options without compromising on design or community aesthetics.

Non-traditional housing arrangements are becoming increasingly popular across Ontario. A recent survey indicates that nearly half of Canadians are open to alternative homeownership models, such as co-buying with friends or family, to navigate the high cost of living. In cities like Mississauga and Brampton, multigenerational homes and properties with secondary suites are in high demand, reflecting a shift towards more flexible living arrangements.

This shift is particularly evident among younger generations. A significant number of Toronto's Generation Z residents have expressed doubts about ever owning a single-family home, with many considering condominiums or townhouses as more realistic options. Despite these challenges, there remains a strong desire among young people to achieve homeownership, albeit through different pathways.

As Toronto continues to grapple with housing affordability, these emerging models offer a reimagined vision of suburban living. By embracing innovative housing solutions, the city can foster inclusive communities that cater to diverse needs and ensure that the dream of homeownership remains within reach for future generations.
