Real estate developer Beedie has sold its former head office at 3020 Gilmore Diversion in Burnaby to BC Housing for $16.2 million. The two-storey building, encompassing approximately 47,000 square feet of office space on a 1.5-acre lot, was listed for sale by Colliers and recently acquired by the provincial housing agency.
Beedie has relocated its headquarters to Station Square in Metrotown, a mixed-use development the company co-developed with Anthem Properties. The new office is situated on the third floor of 6051 Silver Drive, just a short distance from the company's original location on Kingsway.
The former head office at Gilmore Diversion, also known as 3030 Gilmore, is strategically located near Highway 1, offering high visibility and accessibility throughout Metro Vancouver. The building features 72 private offices, 10 meeting rooms, and 88 surface parking stalls.
BC Housing plans to transform the site into a permanent homeless shelter, providing up to 80 semi-private sleeping pods across the two floors. This initiative aims to address the growing need for supportive housing in the region.
The sale reflects Beedie's ongoing commitment to community development and support. The company's philanthropic efforts include the Beedie Foundation's involvement in projects like Cindy Beedie Place, a housing initiative for women and children leaving violence, developed in partnership with the City of Burnaby, YWCA Metro Vancouver, and BC Housing.
Beedie's move to Station Square aligns with its long-standing presence in Burnaby and its focus on innovative urban development. The company's relocation and the sale of its former headquarters demonstrate a strategic approach to growth while contributing to essential community services.
