Oviedo Properties has decided to take BridgeCity, its planned community in Surrey, and redesign it to make it even better. BridgeCity was already getting attention for its mix of homes and modern feel. Now, the developer is changing direction to shape a community that fits today’s and tomorrow’s needs more closely.
The project sits just north of King George Boulevard, beside Bolivar Creek. It was launched last year with high hopes. BridgeCity promises to bring fresh energy and growth to Surrey, much like Oviedo’s other projects such as Altus and White Birch did for White Rock.
Oviedo is pausing the project to redesign. It is not stopping BridgeCity; they are just taking more time to improve things, from how the streets will look to the places people can gather. “This strategic redesign underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering homes that truly resonate with our buyers and exceed market expectations,” said Kanwar Dhamrait of Oviedo.
The company will cancel current agreements and return any deposits that buyers have made. Oviedo says it is grateful for the early interest and support, and hopes people understand this pause is part of making the project stronger. The plan is to relaunch the project in 2026.
When BridgeCity returns, it aims to stand out as a new benchmark for community living in Surrey. The focus is on creating a stronger community feel, better alignment with buyer preferences, and a lasting architectural presence.
BridgeCity’s redesign represents Oviedo’s confidence that when it reopens in 2026, it will be ready as “even greater” than before. This move shows thoughtful planning and a willingness to fine tune before reconnecting with buyers and the community.
