Art In Strathcona Park 2024
August 10, 20242:00 pmOttawa, CanadaMore info
Art In Strathcona Park 2024 Join us for a day in the park and enjoy one of the area’s most enjoyable fresh-air event featuring many talented artists and artisans. On Saturday, August 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. established artists and artisans and undiscovered talents will come together to sell their work directly to the public and to raise public awareness about mental illness. Art in Strathcona Park also offers jewellery and pottery, to name just a few, and will also feature a silent auction and a BBQ - something for just about everyone! Art in Strathcona Park is a fundraising and public awareness event sponsored by Mental Illness Caregivers Association (MICA). Did you know that in any given year, 1 in 5 Canadian experiences a mental health problem or illness? The sad fact is that we are all touched in some way by mental health issues through a family member, a friend or a colleague. Unfortunately, the reality is that public misconceptions, fear and the stigma associated with having a mental illness may discourage people from seeking help for themselves or their family member. Set in an idyllic location that draws many visitors and locals, Strathcona Park is located between the Rideau River and Range Road, south of Laurier Avenue East. Regardless of whether or not you're in the market for original art, or jewellery or other craft, Art in Strathcona Park is a pleasant way to spend a summer Saturday.

Meet Your Neighbours Beach BBQ
June 27, 20249:00 pmOttawa, CanadaMore info
Meet Your Neighbours Beach BBQ Summer is almost here and that means it's time for our annual Westboro Beach BBQ Celebration! It's been FIVE years since the last one in 2019. The theme is "Meet Your Neighbours" and it's all about meeting and getting to know the people who live around and enjoy the beach. It's also the last day of school for a lot of families and what better way to celebrate and of course, not have to cook dinner than to drop by the beach, meet your neighbours, let the kids unwind and enjoy a great evening together. There are some changes: It will be smaller, as we only have about 60% of the beach due to construction and fencing.. There is also no swimming. The NCC has opened the beach (a BIG thank you to the NCC) but it is not an Ottawa supervised beach. What remains the same is our plan to have fun, enjoy great food and get to know your neighbours. Here's what we are planning: > Selling hamburgers and hot dogs (meat and veggie options) > Selling a selection of soft drinks > Water in a carafe (bring your bottle or cup) > Free watermelon (while quantities last) > Free cookies and treats > Free washable tattoos > Bubbles for the kids **** WE ACCEPT CASH & DEBIT/CREDIT THIS YEAR **** IMPORTANT: To help with planning, we would like you to select tickets indicating your food preference. It helps us plan and keep costs down by not over-buying. Rain Date: TBD
